Tax preparation is part of what we do.
It just isn’t where good tax work begins.
A tax return tells us what already happened. By the time we’re preparing it, most of the decisions that could have changed the outcome needed to happen months ago.
That’s why, for business owners, we generally prepare tax returns for clients we work with throughout the year.
When we know your business, understand your numbers and have our hands on the tax side before December 31, we can do better work. Your tax return becomes the final step in a year-round process instead of the first time we’re seeing what happened.
Own a business? Start here.
Accounting, Tax + Advisory
For business owners who want us handling the financial side of the business year-round. We take care of the accounting, financial reporting, tax planning and advisory throughout the year, so when tax season comes around, we already know your business and your numbers.
Tax preparation is available to ongoing Accounting, Tax + Advisory clients and is priced separately based on the complexity of the returns.
Tax Planning
Already have the accounting handled? Our Tax Planning service gives you year-round tax projections, estimated tax calculations, planning and strategy without moving your bookkeeping to Countless.
We work with you throughout the year, then prepare your business and personal tax returns when tax season rolls around.
Tax preparation is available to ongoing Tax Planning clients and is priced separately based on the complexity of the returns.
Why don’t we usually take standalone business tax returns?
Because we think the end product is better when we actually know what’s going on.
If we meet you for the first time after the year is over, we’re working backward. We can prepare an accurate return based on what happened, but we weren’t there when decisions were being made, we haven’t been watching the numbers and we may be finding things after the opportunity to do anything about them has already passed.
We’d rather be involved before tax season, not introduced to your business by its tax return.
What about standalone individual tax returns?
This is where we make some exceptions.
We selectively take on complex individual tax returns when there isn’t an operating business that needs year-round planning — think W-2 income plus rental properties, multiple states or an otherwise complicated individual tax situation.
These are tax preparation engagements only. They do not include tax planning, projections, estimated tax calculations or check-ins throughout the year.
Standalone individual tax preparation starts at $1,200 and is accepted on a case-by-case basis.
What we prepare
We prepare individual and business income tax returns for our ongoing clients, including S-corporations, partnerships and C-corporations, along with the owners’ individual returns.
We do not prepare trust or estate returns, nonprofit returns, gift tax returns or expat/international returns.
Not sure where you fit?
Tell us what you’ve got.
If you own a business, we’ll help you determine whether Accounting, Tax + Advisory or Tax Planning makes the most sense. If you’re looking for standalone individual tax preparation, we’ll let you know whether your return is a fit for Countless.
And if we’re not the right firm for what you need, we may be able to point you toward someone who is.
