The Role:
As our future manager, you will oversee a small team and a portfolio of clients.
Responsibilities Include:
While your tasks will vary day to day, we have built-in, recurring deadlines that will need to be met. We keep routine, but avoid the mundane. 🙂
+ Onboard new clients
+ Advise clients on their small business accounting and tax needs, including being the point of contact for your direct book of clients and the clients you indirectly serve through oversight
+ Support the month and quarter-end close processes by managing internal processes to ensure client work stays within budget
+ Review completed financial reports for accuracy; work with accountants and bookkeepers to ensure the reports are completed timely and meet quality control standards
+ In addition to management, you will also have a small book of clients that you will be responsible for and will need to support and close them monthly/quarterly by reviewing data recorded during the period by the bookkeeper and preparing reports on both a cash and accrual basis with financial analysis notes sent to the client
+ Create, maintain, and review workpapers for clients
+ Prepare and review tax projections on a monthly/quarterly basis with ongoing planning and research for our clients including entity structure and retirement contribution tax strategies
+ Prepare and review sales tax returns
+ Prepare and review tax returns (federal and state; 1040, 1120, 1065, 1120s)
+ Review and assist the team with all facets of payroll from both a compliance and tax planning perspective
+ Research
+ Budget and forecasting preparation, analysis and review
+ Accounts receivable and accounts payable oversight
+ Work with various state and federal agencies and the team to register businesses, obtain EINs, register payroll, and respond to notices
+ Ensure that we’re keeping client files organized digitally
+ Manage and troubleshoot various software integrations (Xero, QBO, HubDoc, Expensify, Zapier, Shopify, Square, Stripe, etc)
What We’re Looking For:

+ At least five years of accounting experience, public preferred, in a supervisory role
+ CPA
+ Experience working with small businesses (specifically closely held pass-through entities)
+ Experience with accrual / GAAP reporting and workpapers
+ Experience with preparing and advising on small business taxes (Schedule C, S-Corp, C-Corp and Partnerships)
+ Strong problem solving and analytical skills
+ A love for technology and intuitive computer skills
+ Ability to take ownership, while realizing when it’s time to reach out for help
+ A deep understanding of the financial statements; the relationship between them, what it all means, and the ability to explain the numbers to our team and clients in their language
+ Strong excel skills; you don’t need to know how to build macros but if a string of formulas goes awry you should be able to troubleshoot and correct
